International Relations is a discipline that studies the behavior and interactions of the various actors participating in the international system, whether they are states, international organizations, transnational corporations, or others. These dynamics can be of various kinds (political, economic, military, social, cultural), hence the discipline’s interdisciplinary nature. Furthermore, in a globalized context shaped by issues that affect the entire world—from free trade and migration to organized crime and terrorism—International Relations seeks to understand and analyze these processes. Finally, International Relations serves as a fundamental tool for understanding Peru’s role in the world. Peru’s presence on the global stage is growing, making it necessary to create opportunities to better understand, develop, and consolidate this role.

Field of Work

Graduates can pursue careers in academia, politics, public administration, business, and the social sector. For example, they may:

• Participate in international economic and trade negotiations
• Manage public, private-sector, and nongovernmental international organizations
• Formulate, develop, and/or provide guidance on bilateral or multilateral activities
• Conduct research in the field of international relations on topics such as cooperation, security, migration, drug trafficking, and environmental issues
• Collaborate with companies on political risk analysis, market research, and other areas related to international trade
