Field of Work

Biomedical Signals and Images

  • Development of new medical imaging techniques. Example: tools for the early detection of cancer or the accurate diagnosis of pneumonia in areas of Peru affected by the cold snap
  • Implementation of systems for capturing medical data and managing it clinically. Example: creation of a digital medical record system at a health center

Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials

  • Development of new biomaterials. Example: implants for people with severe burns
  • Development of cell regeneration services to aid in patient recovery

Biomechanics and Rehabilitation

  • Development of prosthetics or exoskeletons to assist people with disabilities
  • Implementation of equipment that uses augmented reality to rehabilitate patients with physical impairments

Clinical Engineering

  • Technology Management of Equipment and Infrastructure in Health Centers
  • Development of new clinical services. Example: a telemedicine service to provide remote medical support
