The Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (hereinafter, PUCP) ensures the confidentiality and protection of personal data voluntarily provided when establishing a relationship with the institution, by respecting privacy and safeguarding the confidentiality of personal data.
CONFIDENTIALITY OF INFORMATION
PUCP will treat the information you voluntarily provide as confidential, always taking into account the safeguards and security measures established by Law No. 29733, the Personal Data Protection Act, and its implementing regulations. Therefore, your information will be processed directly by PUCP for the purposes detailed in this document.
In exceptional cases, this information may be shared with third parties who may collaborate with PUCP in carrying out certain activities described in this document, and solely for the purpose of fulfilling those activities. In any case, the necessary measures will always be taken to ensure that this does not compromise the security and confidentiality of your information.
PUCP does not sell or disclose to third parties any personal information it receives. The personal data you provide will be treated with complete confidentiality. To this end, we have adopted the legally required security standards for the protection of personal data and have implemented the necessary technical and organizational measures to prevent the loss, misuse, alteration, unauthorized access, or theft of personal data.
CONSENT TO THE USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
This authorization allows the PUCP to process all personal data you provide or that is generated for an indefinite period or until you revoke your consent. Your data will be stored in a database owned and managed by the PUCP, located at Avenida Universitaria 1801, San Miguel, Lima 32, Peru.
Authorization is required to carry out the activities described in this document. If authorization is denied, these activities may not be carried out, except for those necessary to fulfill a contractual relationship or those required by law.
PROCESSING OF OUR STUDENTS’ ANDALUMNI’S PERSONAL DATA1
If you are a current student or alumnus of PUCP, we will use your information for the following purposes: i) academic administration; ii) provision of services offered by PUCP (for example, educational, cultural, and athletic services) or by third parties with whom we have entered into an agreement or contract; for this purpose, we may share your information exclusively for the purposes described herein and always ensuring the security of your personal data; iii) handling inquiries, claims, and complaints; iv) offering academic, cultural, sports, and similar services organized by PUCP and its respective units and educational centers; v) maintaining the student and alumni registry; vi) managing tuition collection; vii) assessing your socioeconomic status and that of your family as part of the processes designed to determine or review the tuition tier to which you are entitled; viii) conducting surveys; ix) evaluating applications for student loans, PUCP scholarships, third-party scholarships, and other benefits provided by PUCP or by third parties with whom we have entered into an agreement; in such cases, we may share your information exclusively for these purposes. Additionally, some of your data will be used to verify the accuracy of your information through publicly available sources; x) academic accreditation of the PUCP with international and/or national entities; xi) managing job opportunities through the job board administered by the PUCP, for which we may provide your contact information and the information you include in your CVPUCP and Job Board to companies or entities interested in hiring you; xii) provision of health services and evaluations, for which we may share your information with third parties with whom we have entered into an agreement, exclusively for that purpose; xiii) awarding of academic degrees and professional credentials; xiv) maintaining contact with the network of PUCP alumni and graduates and inviting them to join the respective associations; xv) where applicable, to register you as a PUCP service provider and process payment for such services; xvi) to respond to requests for information from public administration entities; xvii) to provide your former schools with general academic information about their graduates; and xviii) in general, to fulfill any purpose related to your status as a student or graduate of the PUCP.
In addition, we will use your data—such as your first and last names, email address, PUCP academic unit, academic degrees, professional titles, honors and awards received, publications, works, and research, if applicable—to publish them in our directory on the website, as well as through the people search feature on the Virtual Campus. Notwithstanding the foregoing, other personal data you enter into the CVPUCP may be published on the aforementioned platforms according to the settings you choose and configure on the Virtual Campus.
PROCESSING OF OURTEACHERS' PERSONAL DATA2
If you are a professor at PUCP or perform activities that support teaching, such as serving as a fieldwork coordinator, we will use your information to: i) fulfill the purposes listed for collaborators (see the following section); ii) conduct faculty opinion surveys; iii) accredit PUCP with international and/or national entities; iv) respond to information requests from public administration entities; v) make teaching records and the results of opinion surveys regarding the courses taught available to the university community; vi) conduct general surveys; and vii) other academic purposes related to the professor’s academic and service activities.
In addition, we will use your data—such as first and last names, email address, PUCP unit or department, PUCP phone number, academic degrees, professional titles, honors and awards received, publications, works, research, and teaching history, if applicable—to publish them in our directory on the website, in the section of the website dedicated to institutional information, as well as through the people search tool located on the Virtual Campus. Notwithstanding the foregoing, other personal data you enter into the CVPUCP may be published on the aforementioned platforms as you decide and configure on the Virtual Campus. This information may also be used to publicize PUCP events and courses in which the professor participates.
PROCESSING OF OUREMPLOYEES' PERSONAL DATA3
If you are a PUCP employee, we will process your personal data to ensure the proper fulfillment of the contractual relationship to which you are a party and to comply with our legal obligations. Purposes related to human resources management include the following: i) administration of employee benefits for employees and their beneficiaries; ii) performance evaluations; iii) records of hiring and terminations; iv) occupational health assessments; v) consulting and reporting to third parties on information regarding the employee’s personal and professional background, performance, and credit and financial history; vi) sharing your information with third parties who require the services provided by PUCP and who wish to access information about the staff who will assist them; vii) offering and providing products or services offered by PUCP or by third parties with whom PUCP has entered into a contract; viii) responding to requests for information from public administration entities; ix) conducting surveys; and x) in general, any purpose related to your status as a PUCP employee.
In addition, we will use your data—such as your first and last names, email address, PUCP unit or department, PUCP phone number, academic degrees, professional titles, honors and awards received, publications, works, and research, if applicable—to publish them in our directory on the website, as well as through the people search tool located on the Virtual Campus. Notwithstanding the foregoing, other personal data you enter into the CVPUCP may be published on the aforementioned platforms according to your preferences and settings on the Virtual Campus.
PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA OF APPLICANTS FOR A TEACHING POSITION ATPUCP4
If you are applying for a teaching position at PUCP, we will use the information you provide in your resume or submit through the Virtual Campus to evaluate your application for the respective job opening or, more generally, to carry out the necessary steps as part of the selection process in which you are participating, which includes, among other things, activities such as aptitude assessments, psychological and/or competency-based tests, verification and cross-checking of background information and the data provided, and pre-employment medical evaluations. Your information may be shared with third-party evaluators as part of a selection process.
PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA OF UNDERGRADUATE ANDGRADUATE APPLICANTS5
If you are applying for an academic position at PUCP, we will use your information for the following purposes: i) processing your application; ii) handling inquiries and complaints; iii) maintaining a registry of prospective students and applicants; iv) collecting application fees; v) publishing the results of your application; vi) allowing the authorities at your current educational institution to review the results of your participation in the admissions process; vii) sending a congratulatory message to the authorities at your current educational institution if you are admitted to PUCP, for which your first and last name will be required; viii) to provide information about PUCP’s educational offerings through outreach activities; ix) to conduct surveys; and x) in general, to fulfill any purpose related to your application to PUCP. You also authorize PUCP to use your image on our institutional website, posters, or in any of our advertising materials.
On the other hand, if you have been offered a spot following the admissions process, we will use the information you provide in the Family Affidavit to assess your socioeconomic situation and that of your family in order to determine the tier of the Tuition Scale to which you should be assigned. To do so, some of your information may be used to make inquiries with public and private entities, or through publicly available sources, for the purpose of verifying the accuracy of the information you have provided.
PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA OF CONTINUING EDUCATION STUDENTS AND PARTICIPANTS IN OTHER ACADEMIC ANDNON-ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES6
If you are going to participate in a continuing education activity at PUCP or in any other academic or non-academic activity, we will use your information for the following purposes: i) to manage the registration process; (ii) if the continuing education activity is offered under an agreement between PUCP and another institution, your personal and academic information may be shared with that institution, only if the respective agreement so provides and solely to achieve the purposes described therein; (iii) handling inquiries and complaints; (iv) maintaining a registry of enrolled students; v) recording access to the university campus and other PUCP facilities; vi) processing the collection of tuition and fees; vii) publishing the results of your enrollment; viii) issuing certificates; ix) forwarding the results of your participation, along with other related data, to the public or private institutions directly involved in the respective activity; x) sending invitations to academic, cultural, athletic, and similar events organized by the PUCP and its respective units and academic centers; xi) issuing identification cards and credentials for the use of services provided by the PUCP; xii) conducting surveys; and xiii) in general, to fulfill any purpose related to your participation in the aforementioned activities.
PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA FORMARKETING PURPOSES7
Your information may be used to send you promotional materials about the various educational programs offered by PUCP through its different schools, colleges, or programs. To that end, this information will be sent to you primarily via your PUCP email address or the personal email address you have provided.
INFORMATION ON MINORS AGED 14–18
Personal contact information for minors between the ages of 14 and 18 will be collected in order to process their application for a spot at PUCP and to facilitate their participation in academic and non-academic activities of interest to them.
If you are under 14 years of age, you must have your parents' permission to register your information on our website; therefore, you must provide us with your parents' or legal guardians' contact information so we can obtain their consent.
INFORMATION ON MINORS AGED 5–14
Personal contact information for minors between the ages of 5 and 14 must be provided by their parents or duly authorized guardians. This information will be used solely to manage the minors’ participation in the academic activities in which they are enrolled. Additionally, to ensure the health and safety of the minors, information regarding their allergies will be requested.
The personal information of parents or guardians will be stored along with that of minors for contact purposes and to keep them informed about their children's performance and results.
PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION POLICY
If, for any reason, within the context of your relationship (employment, academic, service provision, or other) with PUCP, you have access to personal data provided to you by PUCP, you agree to:
(i) Use any databases or personal data that you may receive or access, directly or indirectly, from the PUCP solely for the purposes specified by the University.
(ii) Maintain confidentiality in the handling of databases or personal data, even after the termination of their relationship with the PUCP.
(iii) Return or destroy any information related to databases or personal data received from the PUCP, as directed by the University.
In the event of a breach of this commitment or of the provisions of the Personal Data Protection Act or its implementing regulations, the PUCP may take the appropriate corrective actions, without prejudice to initiating the necessary legal actions to seek compensation for any damages it may suffer as a result of such breach.
