Political science studies and helps us understand power relations in general and, in particular, the functioning of public institutions and the decision-making processes of the state and public policy, in which various political and social actors are involved. From a comparative perspective, it analyzes how the state, politics, and society are linked across different sectors and geographic areas in our country.

Politics encompasses the full range of public affairs; it presents challenges that affect all activities and people, and its scope extends from the local level to the international arena in a globalized world. Understanding and acting within this context—and doing so within democratic and institutionalized frameworks—requires the information, knowledge, and skills that this specialization provides.

Field of Work

• Public Sector:You will participate in the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of public policies in various areas of government. You will be able to serve as an advisor and official in the various branches and institutions of the government, at the national, regional, and local levels.
• Private Sector:You’ll have the opportunity to work in areas such as institutional relations, community relations, international relations, or strategic planning within companies.
• International and Nongovernmental Development Organizations:You will be able to contribute to the analysis and resolution of the problems that hinder development efforts.
• Political Communication, Public Opinion, and Mass Communication:You will also be trained to conduct public opinion surveys, analyze public issues, and produce content for television, radio, and print media.
• Research:You will be able to engage in the search for, analysis, and dissemination of evidence-based knowledge applicable to the interpretation of political reality.
• Diplomacy and International Relations Analysis: Thisspecialization also qualifies you for special admission to the country’s Foreign Service and other international organizations based on the training you will receive in the field of international relations.
