The Art, Fashion, and Textile Design Specialization provides a comprehensive perspective on the creation, dissemination, and management of design and fashion, exploring their cultural, strategic, creative, and communicative components through an approach that emphasizes the substantive value of Peru’s heritage of textiles, clothing, and accessories.
Research, design, and art are combined with creative experimentation and the techniques and technologies of the fashion industry through applied theory classes, workshops, and labs.
The degree program has a strong artistic foundation essential for creative development, which is built during the first two years. The following three years focus on specialization in textile design, apparel design, fashion collection design, communication, and management.
Field of Work
- Career opportunities: On the one hand, in design studios as a designer, design director, member of design teams, draftsman, or operator of specific software programs; on the other hand, as the creator and manager of one’s own fashion brand.
- Industrial sector: in design, product management, and design departments; project and marketing departments; as well as in roles such as chief designer, product manager, or quality control specialist.
- Business sector: in design departments, as a creative designer, consultant, or production advisor; as a creator of their own collections; as a textile and apparel entrepreneur; and as an image consultant.
- Performing Arts and Audiovisual Arts: in film, television, and theater, as a costume designer or costume consultant.
- Social sector: in the design and management of projects aimed at preserving and promoting the nation’s textile and clothing heritage, as well as in the design and management of social projects that provide consulting services on sustainable development for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
- Business sector: as an art director, trend analyst, and head of the marketing department at fashion and apparel companies.
