Founded in 1992, Cemduc provides our entire university community with access to Peruvian music and dance. In this way, it helps complement the humanities-based education at PUCP. It has three areas of focus: the ensembles; the open school, where courses are taught; and the research and community outreach division. Currently, Cemduc is part of the Office of Cultural Affairs (DACU).

John Castro Torres
Linguist, with a bachelor’s degree in Education and a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the PUCP, and a Ph.D. candidate in the Humanities with a concentration in Cultural Studies at the University of Piura.
Professor in the Humanities Department at our university. He specializes in clinical linguistics, neurolinguistics, and speech-language rehabilitation. He is a scholar, practitioner, and promoter of Peruvian music and dance. He is also a researcher of the history and contemporary practice of the marinera.
