An interdisciplinary research unit dedicated to the study, recording, documentation, and preservation of traditional and popular music from the Andean-Amazonian region. It also seeks to contribute to the development and promotion of creativity. It maintains an extensive audiovisual archive, a library with more than 1,400 titles on ethnomusicology, and a well-equipped editing suite.

Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Chicago. Senior professor in the Department of Social Sciences and coordinator of the Visual Anthropology Research Group (GIAV). Drawing on theories of performance and visual anthropology, she conducts research and publishes on topics related to ethnic and regional identity politics, as well as on the formation of the nation and citizenship in the context of neoliberalism as a cultural regime. Concurrently, she focuses on cultural policies and heritage in relation to the use of ethnographic archives and digital technologies. In this field of study, she explores the scope and limitations of collaborative methodologies for the restitution of photographic and sound archives in the Andes.
