President

Julio del Valle Ballón is the president of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and a senior professor in the Department of Humanities. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (Germany), a degree he earned under the supervision of Rüdiger Bubner with a dissertation on the definition of the concepts of art and genius in the philosophy of Immanuel Kant. He also holds a Master of Philosophy from the PUCP.
At our university, he has served as dean of General Studies in the Humanities, representative of the deans on the University Council, and director of the Institute of University Teaching (IDU). Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards for his work as a teacher and researcher.
His areas of study encompass topics such as art and the concept of artistic productivity, aesthetics and poetry, German literature, educational approaches, teacher training, and academic research.
He is a speaker and lecturer, as well as a member of scientific and academic committees at PUCP and at various universities throughout the country.
Del Valle is also the author of various research articles, primarily focused on aesthetics and poetry. He has published two books of poetry: *Callado Cielo* (Pedernal, 1994) and *El instinto de la memoria* (Estruendomudo, 2008). His poems have appeared in various domestic and international journals and anthologies.
