Through its academic activities, research groups, and public services, the IRA is dedicated to researching and promoting the humanities and Peruvian culture. It comprises five units: the Riva-Agüero Historical Archive, the Library, the “Luis Repetto Málaga” Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, the “Josefina Ramos de Cox” Museum of Archaeology, and Casa O’Higgins. All of these institutions preserve and protect the cultural heritage they house.

Ph.D. in Ibero-American Heritage, Comparative History, and Territory from the University of Huelva, Spain. Diploma in Advanced Studies (DEA) from the same university. Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in History from the PUCP, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a High School Diploma in Humanities from the same institution. He is the author of: “Saints and Holiness in Viceregal Peru,” “Perspectives on Historical Peru,” and “On the Spanish Regime: Studies on the Conquest and the Peruvian Viceregal Order.” Member of the Peruvian Academy of Moral and Political Sciences (corresponding to the Academy of Madrid), the Peruvian Academy of Ecclesiastical History, the Peruvian Historical Society, the Geographical Society of Lima, the Center for Mountain Studies (Santander, Spain), and the Royal Association of Hidalgos of Spain.
