Monsignor Pedro Pablo Drinot
The second rector of what was then the Catholic University of Peru, MonsignorPedro Pablo Drinot, wasauxiliary bishop of Lima—having previously served as bishop of Huánuco—when, in 1921, he was invited to join the faculty and took charge of the course in Canon Law. In 1922, he also taught Apologetics.
In 1924, he was one of the members of the Governing Council of the fledgling institution when the resignation of Rev. Dintilhac necessitated an election in June of that year. Due to poor health, Monsignor Drinothadto step down from his duties in January 1925, prompting the return of Father Dintilhac.
Dedicated to teaching since entering the priesthood, Monsignor Drinot was a member of the Order of theSacred Hearts, like Father Dintilhac. Although his time in teaching was brief—and his tenure as rector the shortest in our institution’s history—he is yet another representative of the tradition of the “teacher-rector,” an integral part of how the PUCP has understood itself throughout its institutional history.
