Diplomatic officer, professor, politician, historian, Víctor Andrés Belaunde was linked to PUCP since 1931 when he returned from exile imposed by President Leguía, who had made him quit teaching at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. PhD. Belaunde was professor and dean of the School of Arts, vice-president in 1942, and president pro tempore between 1946 and 1947.

His link with PUPC was recognized on December 30, 1965 when he was appointed president emeritus; although it occurred at the end of his life, it made it clear that a great part of the contribution left by this exemplary Peruvian was made from this university.
