Monsignor Fidel Tubino Mongilardi

Term: 1953 y 1962
Monsignor Fidel Tubino Mongilardi

Priest, lawyer and university professor, Monsignor Fidel Tubino Mongilardi was born in Peru, he studied in Italy and was ordained priest in our country. Monsignor Tubino was awarded the degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence and Licentiate in Sacred Theology. He was auxiliary bishop of Lima while serving as president at PUCP.

In 1944, Monsignor Tubino was ordained as priest in his elder years, and stood out in the Curia of Lima. He was devoted to education both at school and university level. Besides being mainly a man committed to church, he knew how to guide the growing university through a series of events that would lead to its modernization and allow it to become the university it is now. It is during his term as president that many activities of the new Riva-Agüero Institute began. From the university located on Lártiga street and Plaza Francia (Square) to its current location at university Pando campus there is a great leap, which began at that time with the Schools of Engineering and the already extinct School of Agronomy, installed outside of Lima district during the years of Monsignor Tubino.

After leaving the position of president at PUCP, he continued his activity as bishop and participated in some sessions of the Second Vatican Council and the General Conference of the Latin American Episcopate, held in 1968 in Medellin.
