José Carlos estudia qué son, cómo cambian y por qué importan las instituciones para la economía y el ambiente. Su investigación ha sido publicada en una docena de revistas especializadas, como New Political Economy, Journal of Institutional Economics y World Development. Co-editor de Resource Booms and Institutional Pathways: The Case of the Extractive Industry in Peru (Palgrave 2017) y co-autor de The Developmental Challenges of Mining and Oil: Lessons from Africa and Latin America (Palgrave 2012). Postdoctoral fellow del Watson Institute de Brown (2010-2012) y SSRC (2012-2013). Profesor Visitante Cogut en Brown CLACS (2014-2015). PhD Columbia, MPA/ID Harvard y bachiller PUCP.
