Improving Working Conditions in Local Latino Immigrant Communities-Second Phase: Training Program for Immigrant Workers¿ Rights in the Workplace

Based in the experience and findings of the projects¿ first phase, we are developing during Spring 2004 the projects¿ second phase that consist in a ¿Training Program for Immigrant Workers¿ Rights in the Workplace.¿ containing the following activities: 1. Educational materials will be produced in consultation with a key group of local Latino workers. These materials will emerge from a collective analysis and discussion of the research and data collected in the first part of the project. These materials ¿both the type and content-- will be grounded in local reality and will be designed by and for the use of local Latino workers in their community organizing efforts. 2. Learning circles will be offered to interested immigrant workers, within the context of learning as a form of empowerment for local communities. The learning circles will use and debate the results of the research project and evaluate the educational materials for content, style, and potential use.
