Curricular infusion in technology management education programmes

Technology management is a set of systematic ways for managing the process of using knowledge to expand human activities and produce specific products. It is about bringing people and technologies together to do what people anticipate. The best ideas from academic, practitioner, generalist, and technological perspectives are combined in technology management education. Curricular Infusion is one such idea but the reports of its effectiveness vary. Its effectiveness may improve when it is combined with other pedagogic methods like project based learning. Using a quasi-experimental method this study finds that combined with project based learning, curricular infusion is more effective than traditional methods.

Determinants of Cultural Intelligence of Operations Management educators

Building cultural intelligence (CQ) makes one a better manager. Understanding how a team member¿s culture differs from one¿s own makes one a more inclusive, supportive, and effective manager. Operations Management (OM) is the vital process that, in today's cutthroat business environment, allows organizations to survive and thrive. OM concepts are extensive and have an impact on every part of the organization's operations. OM education is important for all management students irrespective of their specialization. OM academics have risen to the challenge for providing education that is relevant to the global economy. There has been a lot of research on how to measure and enhance cultural intelligence of the students but little on the cultural intelligence of those who prepare them for their career in business. This research seeks to measure CQ of OM educators and determinants of a higher CQ. It finds that foreign teaching excursions in culturally distant countries are positively connected to CQ of OM educators.

How fair is Fair Trade in fisheries?

The international trade of fisheries and aquaculture products generates over USD 170 billion per year. About 600 million people's livelihoods are thought to be at least largely dependent on fisheries and aquaculture. Fair trade in fisheries is a growing movement that seeks to ensure that fishers and fish-workers are paid a fair price for their catch, that their working conditions are safe and dignified, and that fishing is done in a sustainable manner. To address complex social-ecological concerns, cross-sector cooperation involving businesses, voluntary organisations, and scientists have increased recently. These partnerships have been especially effective in global value chains like the fisheries industry. The inclusion of social problems is a recent development in this subject. With this association, sustainability is becoming more than just a trendy word. With the ability to create unified sustainable practices and the economies of scale required to effect significant change, Fair Trade in fisheries provides a mechanism for raising the awareness of the consumers and the producers in products that are certified as conforming to environmental and social sustainability standards.

Minimising Catastrophic Risk in the Chemical Industry: Role of Mindfulness

The chemical industry is a high risk working environment with the potential to cause catastrophic accidents. The use of hazardous chemicals and complex equipment requires a constant state of alertness from workers to prevent accidents that have low probability of occuring but have can cause great harm to people, the environment, and the company's reputation. Mindfulness practices have been shown to reduce the risk of accidents by helping workers develop a heightened sense of awareness, focus, and attention to detail. A mindfulness culture in the workplace can reduce the risk of accidents by helping workers to be more present and focused on their tasks. This means they are more likely to recognise potential hazards before they become accidents. Additionally, mindfulness can help workers develop better stress management skills, which can help them remain calm and focused when unexpected situations arise. This can be especially beneficial in high pressure situations when the risk of accidents is higher.

Prosocial behavior of MBA students: The role of yoga and mindfulness

This study explores the relation between yoga and prosocial behavior (PSB) of business students and evaluates the impact of yoga on their academic performance in an MBA program. The mediating role of mindfulness is also examined. The study covers a cohort of 255 MBA students. Individual MBA student¿s yoga practice, mindfulness, PSB, and performance in management case studies was measured before and after a 20-week yoga programme. The study found that yogic practices significantly increase PSB and academic performance. To assess the mediating role of mindfulness, PROCESS macro was used for regression analysis. It was found that mindfulness acts as a mediator between yoga and PSB. As a result of partial mediation, half the effect on PSB comes from higher mindfulness while the remaining half comes directly from the practice of yoga. Mindfulness also acts as a mediator between yoga and academic performance. In case of the grades obtained by the MBA students, 58% of increase comes through mindfulness whereas the remaining 42% comes from yogic practices directly. Increasing PSB among business school students would be a logical step toward promoting future management practices that are more comprehensive, socially responsible, value-based, and ethically-oriented. This study demonstrates how yoga can benefit MBA students who practise it as well as meet social demands.

Reskilling business executives in transition economies: can yoga help?

The required skill set of the business executives in transition economies is changing as the monopolistic public sector businesses are converting themselves to private enterprises with global exposure. Through the lens of mindfulness, this study investigates whether the ancient practice of yoga can support enhancement of helping behaviour and cultural intelligence of business executives in a transitional economy. PROCESS macro has been employed to study the mediation model. The study found that yogic practices significantly increase participants¿ helping behaviour and also their cultural intelligence. The results support the partial mediation model with approximately two thirds of the effect on helping behaviour coming from higher mindfulness and the remaining one third coming directly from the practice of yoga. In the case of cultural intelligence, 88% of the increase comes through mindfulness while the remaining 12% can be accounted for directly from yogic practices. This is the first time the gains of benefits of yoga have been quantified in a desegregated manner. Businesses in emerging markets could view yoga not as a woke activity or a trivial pursuit, but as a support for bringing about useful attitudinal changes among their executives.

Wastewater Management through Circular Economy: A Pathway Towards Sustainable Business and Environmental Protection

The circular economy concept has gained traction as a possible framework for transforming wastewater management into a sustainable and resource-efficient process. Unlike the traditional linear economy, which operates on a "take-make-dispose" basis, the circular economy seeks to establish a closed-loop arrangement in which resources are continuously reused, recycled, and regenerated, reducing waste generation and environmental harm. It is feasible to build a holistic approach to wastewater management by using circular economy ideas to wastewater management. This method not only processes wastewater to a high quality but also maximises the recovery of energy, nutrients, and other valuable byproducts. Through the lens of the circular economy, this article seeks to investigate the major concepts, principles, and practises that support wastewater management. It dives into the potential advantages and disadvantages of implementing circular economy solutions for wastewater treatment and resource recovery. In addition, it covers a variety of case studies and real-world examples from diverse areas and businesses to demonstrate the usefulness and flexibility of circular economy principles in tackling the global wastewater challenge.

Contribution of Yoga to Business Ethics Education

This research looks at how yoga can contribute to business ethics education in MBA programmes. The effectiveness of yoga practices of breathwork, movement, and meditation was evaluated using a Randomised Controlled Trial on participants of Executive MBA programmes. Half the participants (n = 125) were assigned to the intervention group and the other half placed on the waiting list for the next programme and used as the control group. Mediation analysis was used for statistical analysis to measure the influence of yoga on the participants¿ performance in business ethics related courses and to quantify the influence of mindfulness which is a mediating variable. Statistical analysis revealed that the increase in performance in business ethics related courses through mindfulness as also direct increase through yoga were significant. Two thirds of the enhancement of performance came through mindfulness while the remaining one third came directly from yoga practice.
