Técnicas de estabilización sísmica para edificaciones históricas de tierra en el Perú

The purpose of the Seismic Retrofitting Project (¿Project¿) is to research, design, and test retrofitting techniques and maintenance programs for earthen buildings in Peru. The primary goal of the Project is to adapt the existing Getty Seismic Adobe Project guidelines in areas where equipment, structural skills and high-tech materials are not available to provide low-tech retrofitting techniques and easy-to-implement maintenance programs for historic earthen buildings in order to improve their seismic performance while preserving their historic fabric. Four historic earthen building prototypes in Peru (¿Prototype Buildings¿), representative of building typologies in Latin America, have been selected for in-depth structural analysis to be carried out as part of the Project. Central to the work of the Project is the collaboration between the Getty and structural engineering professionals with a) expertise in the seismic retrofit of historic buildings, preferably made of earth; b) knowledge and experience with dynamic and static testing of structural elements of historic buildings; and c) access to facilities that are necessary to perform the research and testing work. PUCP is qualified to provide this expertise, knowledge and experience, and access. Other work of the Project will be carried out by other collaborators, including the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Bath (¿Bath¿). Bath¿s work on the Project is defined under a separate agreement between the Getty and Bath. The Getty and PUCP¿s collaborative work on the Project will be carried out in three (3) phases: 1) Design of Testing Program; 2) Design of Retrofitting Techniques and Implementation of Testing Program; and 3) Dissemination and Implementation. The work will be complemented by and carried out in conjunction with the work of Bath, as mentioned above.
